COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this course learners examined and evaluated various theories of testing in ESL. Methods of testing grammar, speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills were introduced; criteria for ensuring reliability and validity were explained and then used by learners. COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES As Learners we were to 1. Demonstrate understanding of the key issues in test design and their application to evaluation of various assessment instruments. 2. Demonstrate the ability to work with different standards and understand their application to various educational programs. 3. Demonstrate the ability to analyze and evaluate assessment instruments at the program level as they relate to program curricula. 4 Demonstrate the ability to analyze and evaluate major proficiency tests in the TESOL field. 5. Demonstrate the ability to interpret articles pertaining to discussion and/or evaluation of courses, programs, and assessment instruments. 6. Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of test design issues in order to write a comprehensive evaluative analysis of a particular assessment case or curriculum/assessment case. |
